A meeting has been set for Wednesday February 29, 2012 at 7:00pm in the Village Community Center which is located at 16533 S. Haven Avenue.
Electric choices for residents and how the aggregation process works will be discussed. Mayor Kyle R. Hastings and the Orland Hills Village Board recently OK'd a plan to work with the consultant, Illinois Community Choice Aggregation Network (ICCAN) to help purchase electricity at a bulk rate for residents and small business.
A new state law allows municipalities to negotiate bulk electric prices from third-party suppliers outside of ComEd. If residents approve the March 20 referendum, Orland Hills will have the authority to set up the program for residents. Then, ICCAN's role will be to take the village's business to third-party suppliers and to act as a middleman throughout the process for both parties.
If approved by referendum in Orland Hills, all residents would have the option of staying with ComEd, choose their own supplier or join the aggregation program under the terms.
