Orland Hills Mayor Honored by Moraine Valley Community College Economic Development Council

Mayor Kyle R. Hastings was recently honored by the Moraine Valley Community College Economic Development Council for demonstrating foresight in Orland Hills to create a healthy community through leadership, planning, and the economic development that is evidence of success. The mayor was recognized for bringing money into the community to assist in the revitalization of commercial development on 159th Street and 94th Avenue. He has also been instrumental in creating shop-local programs and neighborhood street improvements.

The “Business Champion Award was recently presented at a dinner banquet at Silver Lake Country Club by college president Dr. Vernon O. Crawley who commented that “Mayor Hastings’ efforts exemplify how government should operate and is most deserving of this high recognition.”

Mayor Kyle R. Hastings commented on his guidelines for municipal leadership. He listed his major principles as keeping the municipal tax rate down, working with the schools to ensure an effective system for all, providing a high level of services to constituents and working with business to improve the Orland Hills economic base.

The “Business Champion Awards” recognize the valuable contributions that businesses and their advocates make to the economic development of Chicago’s southwest suburbs. Awards were presented in seven categories: Training & Development; Green Advocacy; Excellence in Government; Philanthropy; and Best Places to Work.
