Mayor Hastings Schedules 5th Haven Avenue Resident Meeting

Mayor Kyle R. Hastings has scheduled a fifth public meeting to discuss the ongoing road improvements that are underway on Haven Avenue from 159th Street to Meadowview Drive. Many residents from Haven Avenue have attended the first four meetings that have been held over the past year.

Since the project began on May 1, 2013, trees have been removed as well as sidewalks, curbs, and driveway aprons. Sewers have been cleaned and relined. Work on the new storm sewers has been completed. Sidewalks have already been poured and driveway aprons and curbs will be poured after July 8, 2013.

Resident movement of vehicles remains possible while through traffic has been rerouted. Residents should be driving on new pavement by mid-August. Because of resident cooperation and decent weather, everything continues to be going well with completion of the project scheduled for September.

The rehabilitation project for Haven Avenue includes total re-construction and widening of the street with new curbs and pavement, drainage improvements, tree replacements and new wider sidewalks on both sides of Haven. The project will cost close to $1,300,000.00 with federal and state participation.

Residents are encouraged to attend the public meeting. Plans will be presented by Mayor Hastings and the Project Engineer.
